Chuck Spong
Executive Director
In 2008, Chuck accepted the role of Executive Pastor of Arts and Compassion at Winston-Salem First. In 2012, his role shifted from the campus of Winston-Salem First to the development of strategic initiatives focused on city engagement in partnership with other churches, non-profits, marketplace leaders & city officials through Love Out Loud. In 2015, Chuck left the staff of WSFirst to serve as the full-time director of LOL as it became its own nonprofit.
Chuck graduated from Evangel University with a bachelor’s in music education and from the Hartt School of Music with a master’s in music theory. He lives in Lewisville, North Carolina, with his wife, Sara, and four children.

Tonya Monteiro
Director of Strategic Initiatives
Tonya has served in a variety of leadership, advisory, and volunteer roles within the non-profit and public sectors. In her role with Love Out Loud, Tonya expands our relationships into East Winston with a specific focus on collaborating with organizations towards educational equity.
Tonya also serves on the boards for Imprints Cares and The Arts Based School.
Tonya graduated from Wake Forest with an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing and James Madison University with a BA in Communications.

Elizabeth Edwards
Director of Operations
Elizabeth joins the Love Out Loud team with 10+ years of experience spearheading operations, project management, and business development for high-growth organizations. She has a keen eye for problem-solving and sharp decision-making, ensuring an organization's day-to-day runs as efficiently as possible. She thrives in areas around process improvement and embraces new challenges that require a steep learning curve.
She is a graduate of Western Carolina University with a BS in Business Administration and currently resides in Pfafftown, NC.

Marc Madrigal
Community Engagement Coordinator
Marc is a native of California and moved to Winston-Salem in 2018. Along with his wife Semra and their three daughters, the Madrigals want to contribute toward local efforts to make Winston a thriving place for everyone, especially those led by people from their own communities. Marc is currently learning about access to quality food, community development, and how churches can better serve their neighborhood.

Brooklyn Runyan
Partnership & Communications Manager
Brooklyn came on as a full-time staff member after two summers of interning with Love Out Loud. Brooklyn gets excited about creating space for people to grow and engage with equity work in Winston-Salem. In her role, she develops and maintains relationships with local nonprofit and grassroots organizations and manages external marketing and connection for Love Out Loud.
Brooklyn is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication and BA in Education Policy.

Roonie Craig
Bookkeeper
Roonie graduated from Wake Forest with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She has lived in Winston-Salem since 2002 with her husband, Trey, and three sons. Since 2015, Roonie has assisted Love Out Loud in recouping thousands of dollars of reimbursable sales tax. Now an empty-nester to her sons, she’s come on board with great attention to detail and a sweet spirit to assist Love Out Loud.
Roonie also assisted Love Out Loud with facilitating a Food Distribution Site at First Baptist Church on Highland Ave throughout the COVID Season of 2020-2021.

Karen Stutzman
Partnership & Relationship Manager, LOL Yadkin
Karen engages and partners with the people of Yadkin County to transform the community by connecting its people and resources. Karen is passionate about seeing people thrive in their gifts, deeply connecting to one another, and service to others.
Karen also serves as the Board Secretary for SPARK (Share Peace and Rekindle Kindness) and is a Board Member of the Yadkin YMCA. She is a talented musician, and she enjoys serving at Lewisville United Methodist Church. As a certified health coach, she loves teaching group exercise for the local branches of the YMCA.
Karen has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Bridgewater College (VA). She has worked in education and church ministry for over 15 years, and she loves finding new ways to serve her community. Karen also enjoys spending time with her two children, Kaylee and Josh.
